A New Girl...

I went down to the studio yesterday and worked a bit.  Finished up a few repair projects that I had started before we left for Colorado.  One is a surprise for this gentleman's Mom.  She's 86 and in a retirement home.  She had this doll that needed some major help, all broken apart.  I did all the gluing work before we left on our trip.  That aloud everything to sit up before I put her back together.  Finished up a couple of other repairs too and then put a little Unmarked French together.  She turned out so pretty.  I usually finish these girls off with darker hair, but I was in one of my moods to try something different.  I grabbed a beautiful light blond, mohair wig from Bravot.  She looks beautiful...at least her kiln Mom thinks so.   She is not yet listed in my online store, but will get to that soon.  Right now I'm enjoying looking at her.

It's almost 2013

2012 is coming to a close.  Hard to believe how fast the year went by.....they seem to do that the older I get.  We just got back from Colorado the other day.  We spent Christmas with brother Don.  He lives in the mountains outside of Denver.  Jerry's daughter, Missy stopped by Sunday.  She's an airline attendant and had the day off.  The weather was perfect.  Snowed when it was 'supposed' to and didn't when we had to drive.  Christmas Eve Night the snow started so we woke up to a quiet Christmas morning in Colorado the snow.

Later that day a herd of deer came down the mountain into Don's backyard.  I love natural....never get tired of it.  There must have been 10 deer.  There I stood looking out the back windows at all these deer some within two feet of me and I didn't have my camera with me.....so I went to get it and was able to get a couple of shots before they were off to the side of the house and out of view of the camera.

Our trip back home was uneventful.  The weather was clear, but cold...road were in great shape...dry. We arrived back home on the 26th.  Cat was very happy to see us.  Since we came back home, he stays right by Jerry most of the time.  Rose went with us....Rose is my Cavalier King Charles.  I don't think she was very happy with travelling this time.  She had a lot of anxiety.  She was so worried we were going to leave her.  Poor girl, I felt really badly for her.  So we took her wherever we went.  She was happier being left in the car than being left at Don's.

Happy December!

WOW...time has just flown by these last 3 weeks.  I've been working on some new dolls that I hope to have complete late this month or the first of the year.   All the Holiday stuff tends to throw out any good intentions I might have, but that's one of things I love about Holiday time....from Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year's....this time of the year can be frantic.  This year, at least for me, it's been a really nice and happy time.  Jerry and I don't exchange gifts.......So you could say, hubby and I are not on a first name basis with Walmart....have you seen that place these days?  Holy Cow!  Talk about a bunch of people....and grumpy people at that.  OK...back to Holiday time....This year I decorated the house for Christmas.   It's all been done in red and green and it's  joyful!  I had never decorated our home until this year so this has been fun experience.  In the past I've always decorated "the store" and the thought of decorating the store AND the house was far too much more my mind to wrap around, let alone actually do....but this it was just our home.  We sold all the old Christmas decorations when we moved from MO, so I was able to do new.  I didn't go totally crazy this year, after all, there is always next year.  Hubby had never decorated anything accept a Christmas tree, so this is all new to him and I'm not sure he knew what to expect, but even he is enjoying the seasonal decor.  Not participating the the 'normal' hustle and bustle of the season, gives one a different prospective.  I find myself just enjoying the time of year....no pressure, just pure enjoyment.  I love the decorations, I even enjoy the crowds of people in the stores.  I find humor in things that I wouldn't normally find humor in like the amount of traffic.  So 2012 Christmas has turned out to be peaceful one, full of the joy, laughter and a real real appreciation for the overall beauty of the season.  Happy Holiday's everyone...and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year....Chill and enjoy!

Happy Thanksgiving

Well it's the Wednesday before the big eating day....Thanksgiving.......and boy can we Americans eat on Thanksgiving.  We always seem stuff ourselves so full that we usually have to unbutton are pants for relief.  Well, I'm not doing that this year....I'm going to wear something without a waistband!  ;-)

I took part of the day off yesterday and will do that again today in order to prepare for tomorrow.  Yesterday morning I listed four new girls in my online store and today starts my "Black Friday" sale.  All dolls are 20% off unless otherwise marked.  I've never done a Black Friday Sale before and just thought it might be fun.  Besides the end-of-the-year is just around the corner and I hate counting stuff of year end inventory, so this will work as a double-edge sword....have a sale and reduce inventory.  This morning I'll be packing up dolls for shipment and then over to the Post Office to send them home to their new Moms.  This afternoon I'm going to make some chicken pot pies to freeze...might have one tonight for dinner.  I'll freeze the leftover bones and meat to make good ol' chicken soup....I love chicken soup.  Well that's about it from me today.  Here's a look at those four new listings.  One little girl is new to my Bleuette family....Mein Liebling.  I've made the larger Mein Liebling several times, but not the little girl.  So she's a first and I like her very much.  She is such a pretty little girl.  You will also find "Just Me."  That little girl just tugs at my heart....she always has.  Her little face is so darn cute!  The other two are a new Shandele, which has already been adopted and an Asian Bru.  So take a peek at my online store... www.Thedollladyinc.com and enjoy!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Good Morning All...
I've been busy listing several new dolls in my online store.  I've been meaning to list these girls for a long time now and I'm finally getting around to taking all the photos.  It's a big job setting up for a photo shoot for my larger dolls.  I have to move displays, set up backdrops and create a make-shift table to set these girls on.  So last night, after finishing my shoot, I left everything up so I could take addition photos today.  You will find these new listings under Antique and Modern dolls category.   There is a variety of different dolls...all with their own personalities.  From  the always beautiful Daisy to Santa carrying a little baby in his arms...Little Jackie with her big and happy smile to Red Hat Betty Boop....you will enjoy looking at all these girls.  I hope you will visit on online store and browse my new listings.....and you may find something you can't live with out.  Remember to check back as I will be taking more photos today and entering more listings.   I will be soon announcing a new and exciting dolly program that will run  for the entire year of 2013.  I need to work out a few more details, but you're going to love it!  Stay tuned!  For now, go to www.thedollladyinc.com and take a trip through The Doll Lady!

The cat....again!!

Last night as I was sitting in the den, watching Dancing with the Stars that I had recorded from Monday and Tuesday shows.....our cat came in through the pet door.  He was quiet, didn't make his normal announcement..."Hey, I'm here so pay attention to me."  I didn't think much about it.  He had been in the house for about 15 minutes or so, when all of a sudden I catch out of the corner of my eye, what I thought at first to a bat flying around the den.  I jumped up and looked down at the cat who was stretched out on the floor with one paw on this "bat".  I yelled for Jerry...what good I thought that would I have no idea, but at the time, it was a reasonable thing to do.  I yelled a couple more times, then heard the noise of cat running and "bat" flying around the den.  Went back into the den and much to my relief discovered what I thought to be a bat was a bird.  I'm not saying that a live bird in the house is a gret thing, but it's much better than a bat.  There was the cat on the bookcase...stocking the bird.  "Jerry...get in here!"  That yell for help produced Jerry to the rescue, but like the cat and us couldn't find the bird.  There were feathers all over the house, but no bird...I knew he had to be somewhere (duh) and then I spotted him....in the window behind the wooden blinds, sitting there looking at us like we were nuts.  All ended well...the bird was removed from the house by my brave hubby...the cat was upset because his evening snack had disappeared.  So I cleaned up the feathers....sat down to finish me show when the Rose, our Cavelier got sick....That's another story for another day....

My new Bo Girls...

The postman arrived with a box from Hawaii.....I had been waiting for that box.  It was from Bo Bergemann!  In side the box was Zoe and Emma, two girls that needed a little make-up.  I do my own face-ups on my BJD's....Since I didn't have a clear picture of how Emma should look....I worked on Zoe first.  I spent two days on "me" projects, which is always enjoyable.  So here's my Zoe and Emma.  Bo's dolls are wonderful, if you've never had the privilege of owning one of her girls.....you are missing a wonderful experience....

Restoration

Well here's another poor soul that needs help.  This baby is a real mess.  One leg was taped completely together and when I got the layers and layers of tape off, the leg fell apart.  In the glueing process I discovered there were also two portions about the size of a 50 cent piece on either side of the leg totally missing.  The arms were so crazed that I am going to need to resurface the arms entirely.  And then we get to her head.....it was split in two, plus the composition on the top of the head was so bad resurfacing will be needed there too...oh there are holes in her head too.  Here she is all apart before I started the resurfacing.

The next photos are after the first layer of resurfacing was applied.  Some of the holes have been filled, but will need more work.  Leg is glued back together, came out great.  Again the holes have been filled....additional work is needed there too.
She's looking pretty good....don't you think?

Well, here she is, looking all pretty and like new.  Her outfit was make for her by her Mama.   I cleaned it up and removed all the stains, then gave it a pressing.  She's very excite to see her Mama again....
